Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, over half a second off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
